DNC Yellowstone Digital Menu Board
The Delaware North Companies Parks and Resorts, Inc. is the contracted concessioner for Yellowstone National Park, as well as more than dozen state and national parks across the country. The company provides all of the necessary concessions online and within the park, including food, supplies, keepsakes, and collectibles. Looking for an additional way to communicate with the visitors streaming in and out of the retail store, Delaware North teamed up with Four Winds Interactive (FWi) to develop the Yellowstone digital signage system.
DNC Yellowstone Park and Digital Signs
When most people think of national parks, the flashy light of a digital sign is not the first thing that comes to mind. Indeed, it would be pretty tacky if a DNC Yellowstone digital sign was erected in the geyserite next to Old Faithful. This doesn't mean, however, that digital displays have no place in Yellowstone or other national parks. Effective signage and information boards can be key in creating informed, responsible, and entertained park patronage. Meanwhile, a few well-conceived dynamicl displays in park shops, concessions, and other retail areas can bolster revenues that are the bloodline of a smooth-functioning, fiscally-solvent park operation.
The DNC Yellowstone Digital Signage Applications
One large LCD vertical format display is the crown jewel of the DNC Yellowstone digital signage system. This sign provides a wealth of information to visitors: extended weather forecasts allow visitors to plan out their activities according to the fickle weather of northwest Wyoming; a digital countdown to geyser eruption helps ensure visitors don't miss the star attractions...or use up half their day waiting around for a three-minute show. An activity list, moreover, informs visitors about daily events, as well as digital product advertisements and specials.
FWi and Public Venue Signage
Where digital signs are concerned, the thing about parks and other public venues is that no two are exactly alike. For example, one of the most common signage applications for parks is a wayfinding tool that helps visitors find their way to various attractions. Needless to say, this is a very different task for the 3,500 square miles at Yellowstone National Park than, say, the nine square miles at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. Zoos, aquariums, museums, stadiums, concert halls, and other public venues all present their own unique signage challenges. FWi has seen each type of venue and developed a tailored solution each time. We can do the same for your venue.
What is fairly common about the Yellowstone digital signage project is the multi-dimensional relationship between the national park, Delaware North Companies, Inc., and FWi. Frequently, public venues are managed under a public-private partnership of some kind. But our flexible services, versatile software, and client-centered approach make serving these dynamic business relations a no-hassle proposition. Likewise, our team of project managers, signage architects, content developers, installation service, and technical support is experienced at working together with in-house staff departments or spearheading more comprehensive implementation services.
